My name is Sarah MacDonald and I am originally from Orillia, Ontario (home to Humorist Steven Leacock, birthplace of Gordon Lightfoot…and loving beginnings for me). I am a relatively recent graduate of the University of Guelph where I studied, and more importantly, fell in love with English Literature. My life can be divided into two very distinct chapters. The first, whereby I played by the rules and tried to do everything that was on 'the agenda’ and the second, whereby I chose to live life as far off the beaten path as possible. After graduating University, I followed my heart and the direction of the wind, to many different and exotic places. I saw the Taj Mahal in India, climbed the Mayan Pyramids in Guatemala, lived with a local family in Antigua for a few months, backpacked and ‘tried’ to surf across Costa Rica, ate my way through 12 countries in Europe over the course of three months, drove across the United States, measured my hands next to Jack Nicholson’s on Hollywood Boulevard, perfected my palate for wine in Napa, and drove through the trees in Oregon. I have a tendency to say yes to absolutely any and every travel proposition that comes my way and I spend perhaps far too much money on independent movies that 98% of the population is likely to never see. As fate would have it, I eventually made my new home away from home, in Edmonton, Alberta.
I am constantly surprised by how at home I feel in the ‘West’ and yet I find myself missing the lakes of Muskoka from time to time, especially in the summer. I think that the mountains and Alberta in general, is stunningly beautiful and I feel that everyone once in their lifetime should experience the allure of living here. I have been here for just over two years now and I am very grateful that my life ‘off the beaten path’ has somehow managed to bring me to the doorsteps of Coldwell Banker Johnston, a Company that I am honored to work for and excited to grow with.
